Calhoun Elementary students are starting the school year with something new to ride.
This month, the White Oak Bicycle Cooperative donated and hand-delivered a fleet of 16 brand-new bicycles to the school—eight 16-inch and eight 20-inch bikes, sized just right for Calhoun's elementary students and ready to roll.
The partnership began last spring, when White Oak first connected with Calhoun Elementary. What started as a single conversation has grown into a relationship both organizations say they hope to continue. For Calhoun Elementary, the donation is a reminder that supporting students is a shared effort, one that reaches beyond the classroom and into the community.
"We are excited to begin this new partnership with White Oak Bicycle Co-op. It is my goal to make Calhoun as active and healthy as possible. Instilling a love for riding bikes is a life-long healthy activity our students will benefit from." - Jon Franks, Principal | Calhoun Elementary School
McMinn County Schools extends its sincere thanks to Blake Pierce and the entire White Oak Bicycle Cooperative team for their generosity and their commitment to Calhoun students. The district looks forward to continuing the partnership and building on its impact at Calhoun Elementary.
