Day 4 of Camp Calhoun began with guest speaker Mr. Joe Bryan who shared with campers a wealth of knowledge about Tennessee’s wildflowers and their importance. Throughout the day, campers wrote about various topics including naming and describing their own turtles after creating them. Tennessee’s Queen Dolly was studied and her Coat of Many Colors including students creating their own. Finally, campers learned about the Bristol Motor Speedway and used their graphing, probability, counting, and measurement skills while participating in their very own Calhoun 500 race.

What a great day learning about the Cherokee Nation and the Trail of Tears! Thank you, Mrs. Laura Spann, for making learning so fun for our campers! The necklaces made with Cherokee words were the highlight of the day. In other classes, students learned about the TN Walking Horse, Moon Pies, Knoxville, and TN wildflowers. What a jam packed day at Camp Calhoun!

Day 2 of Camp Calhoun set another record attendance! Campers learned about our state insect, state reptile, transportation with Guest Speaker Josh Monroe from Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, Fall Creek Falls, and the Appalachian Mountains and Trail. We've read, written, calculated, discussed, cut, colored, pasted, drawn, created, and ALL the things! It's been a great day to be a Mink!

Day 1 of Camp Calhoun was a great success with record attendance. Campers studied about Tennessee’s birthday and its significant numbers (1796 & 16).
