Quinten Howard

“I was asked in 1981 if I would consider an   appointment to the McMinn County Board of Education. Since my mother is a   retired teacher in the McMinn School System, I wanted to continue her leadership   in improving the quality of education for the students and citizens of McMinn   County”. This is a statement of our board’s current chairperson. Mr. Howard   has served on the McMinn County Board since 1981 and is the senior member of our   board. Many of these years, he has served as either Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson.   He currently serves as Chairperson and is a memeber of the board’s Budget   Committee. He received his education in McMinn County, being a graduate of   Calhoun High School and Tennessee Wesleyan College with a B. S. degree in   accounting.  He is an active member of Short Creek Baptist Church where he   serves as Chairman of the Deacons. He is a dedicated UT   sports fan, loves to garden and travel in the Southeast. He has achieved many   accomplishments during his tenure on the board. He has been appointed to the   All-Tennessee School in both 1995 and 2005. He is a Master School Board Member   and was the recipient of the C. Hal Henard Distinguished Service Award for   School Board member of the year in 2005. He was also honored by the   103rd State of Tennessee General Assembly for his accomplishments as   a Board Member. He is a member of the 2006 and 2010 TSBA State School Board of the   Year.
